"Until the day all women become prettier."
That's the ambitious motto set forth in Eugene's new beauty book, "Eugene's Get it Beauty."
And who is more fit to impart beauty wisdom than former S.E.S. member Eugene? Since her debut in 1997, the idol singer-turned-actress-turned-talk-show-host has held fast to the title of the most beautiful woman in Korea.
She nevertheless modestly credits a great deal of her looks to her makeup skills.
"Makeup is a woman's most powerful weapon," Eugene said recently on her popular show "Get it Beauty," which airs on On Style.
The cable show discusses beauty-related subjects with gusto, delving into topics that range from "fat blasting" creams to "petite procedures" (non-invasive cosmetic procedures) to push-up bras.
The focus of the show is on makeup and skincare. The same is true of her new book.
On top of beauty trends
“The biggest difference from 10 years ago is that Korean women have started to appreciate their individual styles (in terms of makeup). There isn’t an ‘it’ look anymore," says Eugene.
Even five years ago, cosmetic and fashion brands would spend a great deal of effort coming up with looks they thought would be the next trend.
First it was matte complexions. Then a plump, healthy look. Then back to the dark, smoldering eye makeup.
But now, says Eugene, nobody can tell anyone what color to wear or how dark their blusher should be.

“When I went to Tokyo, I was so surprised to see so many different personalities and styles," she says. "Seoul is changing, too. I walk down the streets and see girls with wacky makeup and think, 'Wow, a lot of things really have changed for the past few years.'”
The beauty book contains product recommendations that are not restricted to the cosmetic brand Benefit, for which Eugene is the main model.
"I want to show what beauty really is," she says.
The different types of looks outlined throughout the pages range from bridal makeup to "pure" to "office chic."
So, what's the most important beauty tip every woman should remember?
“Sunscreen. Sunscreen. Sunscreen.”
