Movie villain Doug Hutchinson has horrified Hollywood by marrying a girl of 16 - even though he's 51.
Doug, who played twisted prison guard Percy Wetmore in The Green Mile, had to get permission for the marriage from bride Courtney Stodden's mum because she is underage. He is four years older than his new father-in-law. But former beauty queen Courtney's mum and dad are delighted with the marriage.
And despite reports that the aspiring singer is signed up to Doug's production company, the happy couple insist their union is no publicity stunt. They said: "We're aware our vast age difference is extremely controversial. "But we're very much in love and want to get the message out that true love can be ageless."
Doug, who also played creepy scientist Horace Goodspeed in Lost, met Courtney when he signed her up as an actress. They got married in Nevada last month and have set up home at his house in the Hollywood Hills. Nevada law says brides have to be at least 18 - or 16 if their parents give permission - and Courtney's mum Krista said she was happy to sign the forms.
"We are so supportive of this," she gushed. "They are very much in love." The teenager's dad Alex, 47, added: "Doug is the nicest man I've ever met in my life. "Every father can only pray to have such a man behind their daughter."
Courtney appears to have had extensive plastic surgery despite her young age, but Krista denies it. She said: "Courtney is a beautiful girl. She has real breasts, real lips. She's not plastic."My daughter is a good Christian girl. She was a virgin when she married Doug."
